How to get 4000 hours of watch time on YouTube
To join the YouTube Partner Program you need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months (or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days). Watch hours are usually the slowest part. These steps help.
Make longer videos people finish
An 8 to 15 minute video watched halfway gives far more watch time than a 1 minute clip. Plan a clear structure, cut slow parts, and tell viewers early what they will get.
Use playlists and end screens
Group related videos into playlists and add end screens pointing to your next video. When one video leads to another, each viewer adds more hours.
Go live
Live streams often run for an hour or more, and public live replays count toward watch hours.
Get real viewers for every new upload
New videos need a first push so YouTube can test them. On SocialPulse, registered creators watch each other's videos to earn points:
- Add your video and choose how many minutes of watch time you want
- Members watch in a built-in player - time only counts while it plays with sound on and the tab is open
- You earn points the same way by watching others (10 points per minute)
- No bots, no dummy accounts - only real members
Shorts that lead to long videos
Shorts views do not count toward the 4,000 hours, but they bring new viewers. Use Shorts as trailers that send people to your long videos.
